The Anhelo Project Dream Scholarship Application

The Anhelo Project is a Chicago based non-profit organization that works to support undocumented students pursuing a post-secondary within the State of Illinois.

Since 2011 The Anhelo Project has awarded over $100,000 to more than 50 recipients pursuing their dream to achieve an education beyond high school. Students do not need to have DACA status, and we strongly encourage undocumented students from all racial/ethnic backgrounds to apply.

The 2019 Anhelo Project Dream Scholarship will be awarded to eligible high school seniors, undergraduate, graduate and/or vocational training students who demonstrate leadership, academic competitiveness, community involvement, and financial need.

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA

Be an Illinois resident attending a high school, college, university or vocational training program located within the State of Illinois.
Must be enrolled full-time for the Spring 2019/Fall 2019 semester at an accredited college, university or vocational training program located in the State of Illinois.
Be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA minimum of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale.
Should demonstrate leadership through community involvement either on and/or off campus.
Must demonstrate ineligibility for federal financial assistance and financial hardships for the Spring 2019 semester and 2019-2020 Academic year.
The Anhelo Project Dream Scholarship recipients must commit 20 hours of volunteer time to The Anhelo Project events during the following academic year.
Holders of F-1 student visas and international students are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
DACA recipients are eligible to apply due to ineligibility for federal financial assistance.
High School Seniors graduating in June of 2019 are eligible to apply with proof of college, university or vocational training program for enrollment in Fall 2019.

APPLICANTS MUST PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS

1. The Anhelo Project Dream Scholarship Application (must be submitted online by Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11:59PM CT).

2. Two letters of recommendation on official letterhead:

One from an advisor, counselor, teacher, professor or school administrator stating your academic success and community involvement.
One from an advisor, counselor, teacher, professor, school administrator or community organization stating how your undocumented status has impacted your financial hardships for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Letters need be signed and submitted by recommender, in PDF format to hello@theanheloproject.org by Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11:59PM CT with applicant name in subject line.

3. A copy of academic history or unofficial transcripts.

4. A resume or CV.

5. Proof of income - a scanned copy, of your (and spouse’s if applicable) and/or your parents’ 2017 Federal income tax returns and W2 forms (NO EXCEPTIONS). If you were born after January 1, 1994 you must submit parent income tax forms and W2's.

6. Signed Checklist.
